NORDIC FOLK MUSIC MEETS IMPROVISATION IN COLLECTIVE INTERPLAY

Cuadra Collective is a quartet consisting of four established voices from the Nordic improvisation and folk music scenes. The group explores composed folk music through a contemporary expression where tradition and improvisation exist in dialogue.
The music is built on compositions by Christian Cuadra, combining melodic material, rhythmic structures and open forms where the ensemble shapes the music collectively in real time. The instrumentation is acoustic, expanded through modular synths and electronics. The result is a sound that examines tradition as a living and open musical platform.

Väst is Cuadra Collective’s debut album and will be released on August 27th 2026, through the Swedish independent label toppkonst.
Christian Cuadra is a Swedish saxophonist, composer and improviser with roots in Swedish folk music and strong connections to the Norwegian improvisation scene. For many years, he has been active both nationally and internationally.
