John Holmström is a piano player born in the town of Mölndal, Sweden. For many years he has recorded music in a broad spectra of sub genres to jazz, inlcuding free improvised jazz, modern jazz and traditional jazz. He has written music for many different instrumentations but this is his first attempt to write for the classic piano trio. The goal with the trio is to make as honest music as possible without shying away for things just because their not modern or ”hip” enough. In his trio he has chosen two of the most experienced players in Sweden. Japanase bass player Yasuhito Mori, known for his exceptional time and phrasing. Mori has among many other things been a steady member of Toots Thielmans quartet as well as the quartet of legendary saxphopne player Stan Getz. The drummer is Henrik Wartel and has a vast experience from many different kind of music inlcuding traditional Indian music as well as jazz. He started playing with the swedish trombone player Eje Thelin at a young age and has among other played with Roland Kejser, Monica Zetterlund, Lee Konitz and Arild Andersen. 

 

The trio will release their first album in the beginning of 2022 and singles in the autumn of 2021. The album will be called ”Mjuka Värden”.
